GAIS honestly could not have imagined a much worse start to the season. The Mackerels lost their opening three league matches and conceded six goals along the way. Five matches unbeaten tells part of the story, but the bigger change is probably confidence. The attacks feel sharper now, less hesitant in possession.

The 4-0 win over OIS stands out for more than the scoreline. GAIS looked composed, especially during transitions, and the defending carried far less panic than earlier in the campaign. Curiously, that remains the club’s only home victory so far. Still, just one defeat in four matches at Gamla Ullevi suggests visiting teams are no longer enjoying the trip quite as much.

Max Andersson already has two goals and an assist. The 22-year-old should start again alongside Samuel Salter and Oscar Pettersson, who have both contributed going forward. Gustav Lundgren, however, remains sidelined with an Achilles injury, and Wednesday’s match probably arrives a little too early for him.

The 4-1 win over Malmö FF last weekend made plenty of people stop and look twice. Few sides control Malmö so comfortably, especially in long stretches.

Away performances remain the slight concern. The Green and Whites have managed only one win from three league trips so far, which feels a noticeable contrast to their home form.

Nahir Besara continues to drive the attack. His hat-trick against Malmö took him to five goals and four assists already. Frankly, maintaining that level in his mid-thirties is impressive. Sourou Koné remains unavailable with a knee injury, while Karlsson heads into the trip without suspension worries.
