Fortuna Düsseldorf come into Friday’s important 2. Bundesliga contest inside the relegation zone after a 2-0 defeat at Magdeburg last weekend. Early goals from Laurin Ulrich (2') and Mateusz Żukowski (16') condemned the visitors to another away loss.

Alexander Ende’s side have now lost each of their last five Bundesliga II games, leaving them 17th in the division, with 31 points picked up from 30 games played. 

Back-to-back home reversals against Holstein Kiel and Hertha Berlin have left the hosts in real trouble with only four games still to play in the regular season. 

With just two wins in ten games played since January, Fortuna have struggled to halt their alarming dip in form this year. Dusseldorf failed to win ten of 15 home league fixtures this season while they also slipped to a 2:1 defeat when they faced Dynamo Dresden earlier this season.

Head coach Ende has a long list of players available this week. Hamza Anhari, Kenneth Schmidt, Tim Rossmann, Christian Rasmussen, Jordy de Wijs, Christopher Lenz, Valgeir Lunddal, Luca Raimund, Satoshi Tanaka and Sima Suso are all ruled out, while Florent Muslija is also expected to remain sidelined.

Dynamo Dresden make the trip to Dusseldorf in high spirits after back-to-back 2. Bundesliga victories eased their relegation fears. Having secured an impressive 2:0 win at Nurnberg two weeks ago, Thomas Stamm’s side scored a crucial 2.0 win against Bochum.

Up to 11th in the division, Dynamo now find themselves four points clear of the drop zone with just four games remaining. 

In possession of the seventh best away record in the division, Dynamo have picked up a point or more in five of their last six Bundesliga II road trips. 

Head coach Stamm has three expected absentees this weekend. Lennart Grill, Elias Bethke and Vinko Sapina are expected to miss out with various injury issues.
