On Wednesday evening, a League One side, Bradford City, will welcome the Championship side, Burnley, in the EFL Cup 1/32 Finals. The home side comes to the game in much better form, having won all three games this season across competitions, including the EFL Cup 1/64 final against Rochdale. Meanwhile, Burnley opened the season much worse and still haven't won a game in regular time.
Let's break down the game and find the best possible bet for this EFL Cup tie.
Bradford City vs Burnley Head to Head (H2H) stats
-
Bradford City

Burnley
Club Friendlies 1
These teams last met in 2015 and 2016 in friendlies, with Burnley winning 2:0 and 4:1. Looking further back, in the 21st century, these teams met a total of eight times. Bradford City won once, while Burnley won five times.
When it comes to the number of goals, five out of eight games ended with three or more goals, while both teams scored five times.
Bradford City team overview
Bradford City managed to secure promotion from League Two in the 2024/25 season and instantly had a chance to secure another promotion. They finished 4th but failed to advance from the Playoffs. Since no one expected them to be that high, it was a massive success regardless. This season, they opened well, winning at Rochdale in the EFL Cup, and followed that with two League One wins without conceding a goal! At the moment, they are at the top of the league as the only team with two wins in the first two games.
The team will only miss Stephen Humphrys. The 28-year-old striker is an important part of the rotation and last season's third-best top-goalscorer. While the results have been amazing, Humphrys's replacement, Jake Beesley, has probably been the weakest part of the team thus far. Against Burnley, the team will definitely feel Humphrys's absence.

Burnley team overview
Burnley went between the Premier League and the Championship in the previous few years. Last season, they once again suffered relegation and are looking for an instant return. However, they haven't started the season well as they won one point in the first two games against West Brom and West Ham. Looking at their squad, they have so many talented players who could potentially have their place in the Premier League. Therefore, this bad start to the season is even more surprising.
For the upcoming game, the club could miss their best striker, Zian Flemming. Some reports say he is injured, but there are speculations that he is close to leaving the club. Regardless, we do not expect him in the squad for the Bradford City game. Moreover, Josh Cullen, Lyle Foster, Jordan Beyer, Ashley Barnes, Jaydon Banel, and Enock Agyei, who missed the previous games, should remain sidelined.

Prediction
Bradford City are in excellent form, having won all three games and scored five goals - 1.7 per game. They have kept a clean sheet in all three games, but we do not think they are too great a defensive team. Despite not conceding a goal, they still allowed a total of 3.43 xG against much weaker teams than Burnley, and it is hard to expect they can keep their net intact against Clarets.
Burnley have been amazing for this type of bet, as all three games ended with both teams scoring. Their defense is clearly underperforming, as they have allowed six goals thus far, which is great for our bet. On the other hand, they have more than enough talent to score a couple of goals against a team from the lower league.
Considering all the above, both teams to score seems like the best possible bet for this EFL Cup tie.
3 Reasons why both teams should score
- Bradford won all three games this season
- Both teams scored in all three of Burnley's games this season
- Both teams scored in the previous H2H game
