AS Roma vs Atalanta prediction 18.04.2026 | Serie A

AS Roma didn't play in the Champions League for the last seven seasons. They are currently only three points behind the desired spot, and with only six rounds left, AS Roma needs to be at their best in the coming weeks. However, their form is not encouraging, as they have won only two of the last eight matches across all competitions. In the previous game, AS Roma won 3-0 at home against Pisa. Gian Piero Gasperini's team dominated in the first half against arguably the worst team in Serie A and secured all three points. 

Gian Piero Gasperini's future at AS Roma is under threat. He recently publicly criticized the club's transfer policy. Claudio Ranieri, a senior adviser to the billionaire Friedkin family, which owns the club, replied that Gasperini had been consulted on every transfer since his arrival in June. Italian media suggest that one of Gasperini and Ranieri will leave the club at the end of the 2025/26 season, and if AS Roma doesn't qualify for the Champions League, it seems that the head coach will pay the price. 

Artem Dovbyk, Paulo Dybala, Evan Ferguson, Manu Kone, Gianluca Mancini, Lorenzo Pellegrini, and Wesley Franca are injured and will not play on Saturday against Atalanta. 

It seems that Atalanta will fail to repeat the two previous seasons when they finished in the top four teams in Serie A. The team from Bergamo is seven points behind the desired spots, and with only six rounds left, they don't have much room for mistakes. Atalanta won only two of the last nine games. In the previous game, they lost 1-0 at home against Juventus. The hosts ended with xG of 1.69, while the guests had only 0.61, but Atalanta's inefficiency cost them points that time.

Although Atalanta lost against Juventus, the head coach, Raffaele Palladino, was satisfied. He said, "Unfortunately, this is football; it has to be accepted when the pitch gives its verdict. It came at the end of a great performance in so many ways. I want to say that I am proud of my lads, because in my view this was one of the best performances since I've been the coach of Atalanta."

Atalanta have almost a full squad for Saturday as Isak Hien is the only player unavailable, while Kamaldeen Sulemana is questionable.
