Al Fateh's results have steadily declined over the years. This year looked pretty promising, and after the first 15 rounds, they sat in 7th place. Unfortunately, since mid-January, they were atrocious, having won once in 13 games! Now, they are in 14th place with 28 points from 27 rounds - five points away from the danger zone, although with one game played fewer. Even though they are not close to relegation, their form is definitely worrisome. 

After a 1:0 loss to Al Okhdood, coach José Gomes spoke to the media. He was very disappointed with the loss, especially since it came against another relegation candidate. The coach emphasized the need for the team to recover mentally and regroup for the crucial part of the season.

Al Khaleej have been a mid-table team in the past three seasons since their return to the Saudi Arabian top-flight division. Like their opponent, Al Khaleej had a good start to the season but have crumbled since mid-January, having won just once in 12 games. Luckily for them, they are a comfortable eight points away from the danger zone, and with one game played more. Since there are only a few rounds left, we can say they are safe. Unfortunately, they missed the opportunity to have a much better season. 

According to credible media reports, coach Georgios Donis is close to signing with the Saudi Arabian national team. There are speculations that he isn't with Al Khaleej at the moment and that he will most likely step away from his manager role at the club. Some speculate that the coach is days away from joining the NT and (potentially) leaving the club.
