- Competition: 1st Division
- Date: Friday, 24th July, 2026
- Kickoff: 18:00 UK / 19:00 CEST
- Venue: Aalborg Portland Park (Aalborg)
After around two and a half months' break, the Danish 1st Division is set to start. On opening day, on Friday, only two games are on schedule. One of those will be between Aalborg and Hillerod, the game we will be focused on. Both teams played three friendlies in the offseason, with Aalborg winning four points and Hillerod only one.
Let's break down the game and find the best possible bet for this 1st Division tie.

Last season, these teams drew in both of their h2h games (3:3 and 2:2). Interestingly, Hillerod managed to equalize in stoppage time in both games! In total, these teams have met five times 5 with Aalborg winning three games and the remaining two finishing as draws.
Regarding the number of goals, all five h2h games ended with three or more goals, while both teams scored in four of those five matches.
Aalborg team overview
After years when they have been among the Danish top few teams, Aalborg are now a team that pretty much travels between Superliga and 1st Division. Last year, they failed to return to the 1st Division immediately and weren't even close, as they finished 7th out of 12 teams. They couldn't even secure a Promotion Group and are definitely eager to change that this season. Even though they have the biggest transfer market value, the bookies do not see them as one of the main contenders, offering odds around 10 to secure promotion.
During the offseason, the team did not make too many changes. Amar Diagne, Eugene Amankwah, and Adam Andersson left the club, but neither of them has been too important a part of the rotation. On the other hand, Tibo Persyn and Uche Brian Seo Nwadike arrived. On paper they this team looks just a little bit better, but we doubt that it will have too big an impact.

Hillerød team overview
After finishing 7th in three consecutive seasons, Hillerod had a really good last season, finishing 4th with 50 points from 32 rounds. They were in a position to even secure promotion, but a pretty bad end of the season eventually led them to miss it by four points.
However, during the offseason, some important players left the club, and it will be interesting to see whether the ones who arrived can fill their roles. We believe the biggest problem at the moment is the goalkeeper position, considering their best goalkeeper, Adrian Kappenberger, left to join Brondby, and they haven't added anyone to replace him. The club only added two young ones as backups, and last season's backup keeper (Andreas Dithmer) will most likely be their first option.

Prediction
In the previous season, these teams went over 2.5 goals in both games, with an average of 5.0 goals per game!
Also, Aalborg went over 2.5 goals in 63% of their home 1st Division games. They also went over 2.5 goals in all three friendlies over the Summer. Meanwhile, Hillerod went over the mentioned line in 75% of their road league games last year. Even though they weren't great for this bet in the offseason, we believe that the loss of their goalkeeper will probably be one of the reasons for another season with a lot of high-scoring games.
Considering all the above, an over 2.5 goals bet seems like the best option for this 1st Division tie.
3 Reasons why we should see three or more goals
- Aalborg went over 2.5 goals in 63% of their home league games last year
- Aalborg went over 2.5 goals in all three friendlies
- We saw three or more goals in 75% of their road league games last season
Main prediction AaB Aalborg - Hillerød
