Vojvodina vs Ajax prediction 23.07.2026 | Conference League

For Vojvodina, the last season was successful, as they, after 17 years, ended as the runner-up. They made some progress and, while Crvena Zvezda is too strong for all Serbian teams, Vojvodina could again battle with Partizan for the next position in the standings. 

Vojvodina made some improvements, and they hoped for their first Europa or Conference League group phase. Those dreams could be finished almost before they even started. Vojvodina started the season in the Europa League qualifications, where they lost 5-1 against Ferencvaros. After a heavy defeat, Miroslav Tanjga's team trashed OFK Beograd 4-0 in the Serbian Super Liga opening round. A big victory will restore some confidence, but it is a big question whether that will be enough to compete with Ajax. 

Vojvodina have invested heavily by Serbian football standards this summer as they look to challenge at the top. The most important signing should be Dejan Zukic, an attacking midfielder, who had seven goals and 11 assists for Austrian Wolfsberger last season. Vojvodina also added Ifet Djakovac (from Akron Tolyatti) and Nardin Mulahusejnovic (Noah). 

Ajax have been without the Eredivisie trophy for four consecutive years. Last season, they ended fifth and are determined to return to the top in the 2026/27 season. Before the campaign even started, Ajax seemed weaker than PSV and Feyenoord again, but there is still time to improve the squad. 

Last season, Ajax played in the Champions League, but they ended 32nd in the regular part of the season with only six points from eight matches. Interestingly, Ajax never appeared in the Conference League, and they could debut in the competition this year. 

Ajax didn't impress in the preseason with only two victories in four matches. In the final test, the Dutch powerhouse won 1-0 against Olympiacos. That was by far the best performance from Ajax this summer. 

Most important players from the previous seasons remained at Ajax. On the other hand, the most important signing should be Marcos Leonardo, who scored 19 goals for Al Hilal last season. Ajax also added Caio Henrique (from Monaco) and Daley Blind (Girona).
