West Bromwich Albion return to Championship business on Monday in low spirits after a poor display in their Boxing Day defeat against Bristol City. Trailing by two goals at the break, Ousmane Diakité´s late goal proved consolation only as the Baggies slipped to a 2:1 reversal at the Hawthorns. 

A poor run of form has seen the home side lose four of their last five games, while they have won just three of 13 previous fixtures stretching back to mid-October. Ryan Mason´s side now sit 16th in the Championship, only six points above the relegation zone.

While in poor form, the hosts can usually be relied upon to get on the scoresheet. The Baggies scored at least one goal in eight of their last nine matches. Seven of those games finished with both teams on the scoresheet, and a similar outcome seems likely on Monday. 

Head coach Mason is likely to make some changes to his first XI this week. Alex Mowatt, Samuel Iling Junior and Daryl Dike are among those in contention to earn a recall to the starting selection. Josh Maja is the only confirmed injury absentee.

Queens Park Rangers make the trip to the Hawthorns after a well-deserved point picked up against Portsmouth on Friday. Jimmy Dunne´s second-half goal ensured a share of the spoils at Fratton Park.

A strong run of form in the past couple of months sees the R's continue to rise up the Championship table. QPR won five and lost just two of their last nine league fixtures. Julien Stéphan´s side now find themselves ninth in the division, just one point outside of the playoff positions. 

Like the hosts, Queens Park Rangers have been a reliable choice for goal chasers in recent weeks. All but one of their last eight games finished with both teams on the scoresheet. Six of those matches also saw at least three goals scored. 

Head coach Stéphan is unable to call on three first-team players this week. Kwame Poku, Ziyad Larkeche and Jake Clarke-Salter remain sidelined with long-term injury issues.
