Tottenham continue their search for a first league victory of the season when newly promoted Coventry visit north London on Monday evening.

Spurs rescued a late point at Manchester United last time out, while the Sky Blues claimed a second successive win with an outstanding performance against Newcastle.

The visitors arrive with growing confidence while Tottenham will view this fixture as an ideal opportunity to finally kick-start their campaign.

Tottenham team overview

Tottenham return home after Dominic Solanke's stoppage-time goal secured a 1:1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Bryan Mbeumo gave United the lead before Rodrigo Bentancur was dismissed for a second booking in the second half. Despite being reduced to ten men for the final 15 minutes, Spurs rescued a point through Dominic Solanke’s stoppage-time equaliser.

While Spurs certainly improved at Old Trafford, Monday’s hosts remain winless in the EPL this season. Roberto De Zerbi’s side have drawn three and lost three of their opening six Premier League fixtures.

After drawing blanks in their first four fixtures, Spurs have scored at least one goal in their last three matches

A dismal home record remains a serious concern for the hosts’. Tottenham won just three of their last 25 EPL fixtures at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

De Zerbi has some selection issues to ponder this weekend. Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended following his dismissal at Manchester United.

Xavi Simons, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert and Mykhailo Mudryk are also expected to remain unavailable with various injury issues.

Elsewhere, Dejan Kulusevski, Pedro Porro, Micky van de Ven and Jan Paul van Hecke are doubtful and will require fitness tests before kick-off.

Coventry team overview

Coventry travel to London in excellent spirits after claiming an emphatic 4:1 victory against Newcastle on Monday.

Jack Rudoni's early penalty gave the Sky Blues the lead before Sidiki Cherif doubled their advantage. Sven Botman pulled one back, but late strikes from Ellis Simms and Stephen Mfuni completed Coventry's first home league victory of the season.

Frank Lampard's side were clinical in front of goal despite having only 33% possession. Coventry registered six shots on target from nine attempts to inflict another heavy defeat on the Magpies.

The Sky Blues have now recorded back-to-back Premier League victories after winning 1:0 at Nottingham Forest in their previous fixture before the international break.

Like Spurs, Coventry failed to score in their first four EPL fixtures, but have since scored at least one goal in their last three matches.

A lack of clean sheets is the biggest issue for Lampard’s men with a minimum of one goal conceded in seven of eight fixtures this season.

The Sky Blues now sit 14th in the division, three points ahead of Tottenham.

Lampard has several selection issues ahead of the trip to London. Aurele Amenda, Haji Wright, Josh Eccles and Luke Woolfenden are expected to remain unavailable, while Taiwo Awoniyi is suspended.

Kaine Kesler-Hayden and Milan van Ewijk also face late fitness tests.

Ellis Simms and Mfuni are pushing for recalls after scoring from the bench against Newcastle.

Prediction

Both teams have struggled to keep clean sheets this week, and an improved Coventry will fancy their chances of testing a still winless Tottenham side.

BTTS is my best bet for what could prove an entertaining Monday night fixture.

Three Reasons Why We Expect BTTS

  1. Coventry conceded 1+ goals in 7 of their last 8 matches
  2. Tottenham conceded 1+ goals in 6 of their last 8 matches
  3. Tottenham have seen BTTS in their last 3 matches
