Portsmouth vs QPR prediction 15.08.2026 | Championship

Last season was challenging for Portsmouth, but they still finished with eight points more than the drop zone. The team from Fratton Park is again one of the worst teams in the competition, and staying away from relegation remains the primary goal. However, their preseason doesn't provide too much optimism, as Portsmouth won only six friendlies. Last week, in the opening match of the campaign, John Mousinho's team lost 3-1 in the EFL Cup on the road against West Ham. The guests were completely outplayed, as the hosts finished with significantly higher xG, and it would be unfair if Portsmouth found a way to stay in the game.     

Since their previous match, Portsmouth signed right-winger Abu Kamara, who came from Hull. The youngster spent last season on loan in Getafe, where he appeared in only 12 La Liga matches. Kamara should have more chances to play for Portsmouth. 

Although it is the start of the season, Portsmouth already have problems with missing players. They will be without Keshi Anderson, Josef Bursik, Jacob Farrell, and Mark Kosznovszky on Saturday at Fratton Park. 

QPR are almost regularly a lower-half Championship team. Julien Stephan's team should be better than Portsmouth, but we shouldn't be surprised if they get involved in the relegation battle, too. QPR were excellent in the preseason with five wins and one draw. However, last week, they lost after penalties at home in the EFL Cup against Millwall. Stephan's team were extremely unlucky that time, as they conceded an own goal late in the game and then missed all four penalty kicks. 

On Wednesday, QPR completed the transfer of left-back Dennis Cirkin from Sunderland. The defender played in only eight Premier League games last season, but should be a valuable piece for QPR and their ambitions. 

Karamoko Dembele is injured and will not travel to Portsmouth, while Paul Smyth is questionable for Saturday.
