Viborg made an excellent start by beating OB 1-0 at home, with Thomas Jørgensen scoring the decisive goal. However, the celebrations were cut short with a subsequent loss 1-0 away to Brøndby before bouncing back and producing a strong performance in a goalless draw at Sønderjyske last weekend. 

Four points from their opening three league fixtures represents a solid start to the new season, but Viborg’s limited attacking threat and just one goal scored across those matches are a concern. Nevertheless, their defensive record has been encouraging, with only one goal conceded across those three games and two clean sheets.

As for the injury news, Mohamed Riahi is listed with a knee injury that is expected to keep him out until late August, while Tim Freriks and Yonis Njoh are also unavailable or doubtful.

AGF began their title defence with a 1-1 home draw against Brøndby before twice coming from behind to draw 2-2 at Lyngby, with Jens Jønsson scoring a stoppage-time equaliser. Their league campaign has therefore been unbeaten but winless so far. 

More importantly, AGF arrive after a physically demanding Champions League qualifying campaign. They beat Sabah 2-1 in the first leg but were comprehensively eliminated after a 4-0 defeat in Azerbaijan, with Sabah scoring four times in the second half. AGF consequently enter this fixture after a long European trip and with their confidence potentially affected. 

Still, their unbeaten start to the domestic campaign and status as Danish champions should not be underestimated, despite a devastating defeat in the Champions League second leg.

There are also several injury concerns. Frederik Tingager is expected to remain sidelined with a foot injury, while Nicolai Poulsen, Kevin Yakob and Markus Solbakken are listed as doubts around mid-August.
