Oxford return to the Kassam Stadium in high spirits after a surprise 3:1 win against Preston on Saturday. Second-half strikes from top scorer Will Lankshear and Ciaron Brown sealed the points for the Yellows.

Having won just four of their opening 34 Championship fixtures this season, Matt Bloomfield’s side have now secured back-to-back victories for the first time since January 2025. The U’s also claimed an important win against West Bromwich Albion in their most recent home outing.

Despite those recent victories, Oxford remain in the relegation zone but now sit just one point adrift of safety.

While usually involved in low-scoring outcomes, each of the hosts last three games have finished with both teams on the scoresheet. 

Head coach Bloomfield is unlikely to make alterations from the side that shocked Preston last weekend. Jack Currie could miss out after he was replaced at the interval on Saturday.

Blackburn arrive at Kassam Stadium following a dramatic 1:1 draw against Portsmouth on Saturday. Hayden Carter's 93rd minute goal secured a share of the spoils at Ewood Park.

Now winless in their last three matches, the Rovers remain 20th in the Championship, just four points above Oxford in the battle to avoid relegation to League One. 

Defensive problems have continued to hamper the struggling visitors in recent weeks. Four of their last five matches have finished with both teams scoring, while three of their previous four away fixtures have produced the same outcome.

Head coach Michael O'Neill has a long list of expected absentees for the trip to Oxford. Augustus Kargbo (hamstring), Scott Wharton (Achilles), Sidnei Tavares (knee), Lewis Miller (Achilles rupture), Ryan Hedges (ankle) and Aynsley Pears (surgery) are all sidelined, while Todd Cantwell is also unavailable for selection.
