Two unbeaten sides square-off in Italy on Saturday afternoon as Lazio take on AC Milan.

The in-form hosts have won each of their first three Serie A fixtures by a single goal, while Milan were denied a third successive victory by a late Juventus equaliser last weekend.

Both teams have been strong at the back in the early stages of the season, and a tight encounter seems likely in Rome.

Lazio

Lazio team overview

Lazio return to Rome after securing another Serie A victory with a late comeback in Monday's 2:1 victory at Udinese.

Jesper Karlstrom put Udinese ahead before Davide Frattesi equalised. Substitute Albert Gudmundsson’s second-half strike completed an impressive turnaround for the Romans.

The Biancocelesti have made a perfect start to their Serie A campaign under new boss Gennaro Gattuso. Lazio began their season with successive 1:0 victories against Bologna and Genoa before last weekend’s win in Udine.

After three matches completed, Lazio sit third in Serie A, two points ahead of AC Milan.

Gattuso has several players unavailable for this weekend’s Serie A contest. Adam Marusic, Luca Pellegrini, Danilo Cataldi, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Nicolo Rovella and Patric are all expected to remain sidelined.

Gudmundsson could come into the first XI after his goalscoring substitute appearance against Udinese.

AC Milan

AC Milan team overview

AC Milan make the trip to Rome after being held to a 1:1 draw by Juventus on Sunday.

Alphadjo Cisse gave Ruben Amorim's men the lead, but Federico Gatti's late header denied the Rossoneri all three points.

Milan had previously claimed back-to-back wins against Torino and Venezia, giving Amorim seven points from his opening three league fixtures.

On the road, low-scoring outcomes have been frequent for the Milan giants. Six of their last eight away Serie A matches finished with fewer than three goals scored.

Head coach Amorim has two injury issues this weekend. Mario Gila and Matteo Gabbia are expected to miss Saturday's contest through injury.

Fikayo Tomori is likely to replace Gila in the back three, while Cisse is pushing for a start after scoring his second goal of the campaign.

Prediction

Lazio and AC Milan have both made solid starts to their Serie A campaign, and a tight contest seems likely this weekend.

Five of their six combined league fixtures this season finished with under 2.5 goals, while the previous three meetings between these sides all finished with a single goal.

Under 2.5 goals is my best bet at Stadio Olimpico.

Three Reasons Why We Expect Under 2.5 Goals

  1. Lazio have seen under 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 7 matches
  2. Lazio have seen under 2.5 goals in 6 of their last 8 matches against AC Milan
  3. AC Milan have seen under 2.5 goals in 6 of their last 8 away matches (Serie A)
