Friday evening's contest in France sees unbeaten Rennes take on a Marseille side looking to halt a two-game losing run.

Franck Haise's hosts have collected seven points from their opening three Ligue 1 fixtures, while Marseille have lost successive matches after starting the season with a big win against Strasbourg.

Both teams have been involved in several high-scoring games, and another lively encounter looks likely this weekend.

Rennes

Rennes team overview

Rennes return to Roazhon Park after extending their unbeaten start to the Ligue 1 season with a 2:1 victory at Angers on Sunday.

Przemyslaw Frankowski opened the scoring before a Jordan Lefort own goal doubled the visitors' advantage. Carlens Arcus replied for Angers, but Rennes held on to collect all three points.

Franck Haise's side have taken seven points from their first three matches, following a 2:2 draw against Paris Saint-Germain and a 3:2 home victory over Le Mans.

The hosts have already scored seven goals, while all three of their Ligue 1 matches this season saw at least three goals scored with BTTS landing in each fixture.

Remarkably, Rennes have seen at least three goals scored in their last 16 matches since the start of April. Only one of their last 13 Ligue 1 games finished with under 2.5 goals.

Haise has no confirmed absentees ahead of Friday's contest and could retain the same XI that started at Angers.

Frankowski should continue at right-back after scoring last weekend, while Esteban Lepaul is expected to lead the attack.

Marseille

Marseille team overview

Marseille travel to Brittany after suffering a painful 3:2 home defeat against Paris FC on Sunday.

Amine Gouiri scored twice for Bruno Genesio's side, but a Lassine Sinayoko hat-trick condemned OM to a second successive Ligue 1 defeat.

The visitors began their domestic campaign with an emphatic 4:0 victory against Strasbourg before losing 2:0 at Monaco.

High-scoring outcomes have been frequent for Marseille this summer. The visitors saw at least three goals scored in all but one of ten games played since mid-May.

Head coach Genesio is unlikely to make major changes despite Sunday's defeat. Gouiri should continue in attack after scoring four goals in three appearances.

Geoffrey Kondogbia and Tochukwu Nnadi are expected to remain unavailable through injury.

Prediction

Rennes have made a much stronger start, but Marseille possess enough attacking quality to make this a competitive contest.

High-scoring outcomes have been frequent for both sides, and we should see more of the same this weekend.

Over 2.5 goals is my best bet at Roazhon Park.

Three Reasons Why We Expect Over 2.5 Goals
