AZ had a pretty underwhelming season, finishing 7th, which was their worst finish since the 2013/13 season. However, by winning the Cup, they pretty much saved the season and secured Europe that way. This year, the popular Cheese Farmers started the season well, winning all five matches. To be fair, they still haven't faced any of the top teams, but it is still a great record. Still, a massive 4:0 win over PSV in the Super Cup was really impressive, and they have a reason for optimism. 

Midfielder Kees Smit is a new name on the injury list. The 20-year-old missed the previous match against Heerenveen and is questionable for the upcoming game. According to Dutch media, the injury isn't too serious, and we expect Smit to be on the field soon. Moreover, Stije Resink and Denso Kasius should remain sidelined with their injuries.

William II are one of the teams that constantly travel between the first and second tier. Last season, they secured promotion, and their only goal is to avoid another relegation. However, that seems to be a difficult task after the first few games. At the moment, they sit in 16th place with a mere one point in the first four matches. And now, they will face an in-form AZ Alkmaar and then Ajax. So, we wouldn't be surprised if they remain on one point after two more rounds.

After a 3:0 loss to Excelsior, coach John Stegeman spoke to the media. He said it was a very poor half from his team, where they lacked quality in possession and were generally too passive. The coach said he made mistakes after the break, but that did not change much. 

When it comes to injuries, Armin Culum, Thomas Didillon Hodl, Amine Lachkar, Jari Schuurman, and Anass Zarrouk, who missed the previous games with injuries, should remain sidelined.
