KV Mechelen vs Anderlecht prediction 11.09.2026 | Jupiler Pro League

KV Mechelen were excellent last season. They finished sixth in the Jupiler Pro League and surely had big expectations for the 2026/27 campaign, too. However, KV Mechelen opened the season with only two draws and three defeats and are among five teams that didn't record a victory in the first five rounds. In the most recent outing, Frederik Vanderbiest's team lost 4-0 at home against Westerlo. The visitors controlled the match from start to finish and surprisingly made light work of a Mechelen side that offered very little resistance.

Although Frederik Vanderbeist led KV Mechelen to sixth place last season, he could soon pack his bags if things don't change in the coming weeks. According to reports, the board is willing to wait until at least the international break before considering a coaching change. 

KV Mechelen have big problems with missing players. They will be without Gora Diouf, Leo Fuhr Hjelde, Halil Ozdemir, Dikeni-Rafid, Tommy St. Jago, Ian Struyf, and Tijin Van Ingelgom on Friday night. 

Anderlecht are no longer the title contenders in Belgium, but they still expect much more from the 2026/27 season. Vitor Bruno's team collected only seven points in the opening five Jupiler Pro League rounds. However, the picture is not entirely negative, as Anderlecht impressed during Europa League qualifying and successfully secured a place in the league phase of Europe's second-tier competition. In the previous game, Anderlecht played 0-0 at home against Genk.

Anderlecht's head coach, Vitor Bruno, thinks his team deserved more in the previous match. After a draw, he commented, “We deserved much more than a draw. We did more than enough to win the game. We had three or four big chances. Genk’s goalkeeper played a great game."

Ilay Camara, Lucas Hey, and Killian Sardella are injured and will not play on Friday in Mechelen.
