Getafe welcome Partizan Belgrade on Thursday for the first leg of their UEFA Conference League 2026/27 qualification play-off. The Spanish side are aiming to return to European competition for the first time in six years after finishing seventh in LaLiga last season, while Partizan have already competed in four qualifying matches to reach this stage. The tie is finely balanced on paper, although Getafe's home advantage and greater experience at the top level of Spanish football could prove decisive over two legs.
Getafe team overview
Getafe's preparations have been disrupted by a difficult start to the LaLiga campaign. José Bordalás' side lost 3-0 away to Alavés on the opening weekend, although the scoreline was heavily influenced by Kiko Femenía's 41st-minute red card.
The defeat followed a mixed pre-season, during which Getafe beat Reading and Tenerife, drew with Real Valladolid, lost 4-1 to Atlético Madrid and subsequently suffered a 1-0 defeat against Monaco before drawing 1-1 with Tottenham. The latter result provided some encouragement, with Alberto Risco scoring for Getafe in a match played behind closed doors.
Bordalás will be without Christantus Uche, who is expected to miss the entire season because of a serious knee injury suffered against Monaco. Midfielder Mario Martín also picked up an injury during the Alavés defeat, while Femenía's availability will depend on the applicable disciplinary rules for this UEFA fixture.

Partizan team overview
Partizan have been far more active competitively and have produced impressive results in Conference League qualifying. They defeated UNA Strassen 4-0 and 1-0 before overcoming Tobol 3-0 at home and 2-1 away, giving them a perfect four-win record and a 10-1 aggregate goal difference in the competition.
However, Saša Ilić's team suffered a setback at the weekend, losing 1-0 at home to Radnički 1923 in the Serbian SuperLiga. The defeat ended a strong run and came despite Radnički playing more than an hour with ten men.
One particularly interesting storyline is Stefan Mitrović, who previously played for Getafe and was involved in Partizan's successful tie against Tobol. His familiarity with the Spanish club could provide useful insight for the visitors.

Prediction
Getafe's defensive structure under Bordalás should make this a relatively low-scoring encounter, while their greater squad depth should eventually give them the edge, but potentially only by a small margin. However, Getafe’s higher pedigree heading into this fixture as a LaLiga side should not be overestimated, since they have only played one league game so far and lost it quite badly.
Prediction: Partizan Asian Handicap (+1.5).
Three reasons we expect Partizan Asian Handicap (+1.5)
- Partizan have been extremely difficult to beat in Europe. They have won all four of their Conference League qualifiers this season.
- Getafe are not yet fully up to speed competitively. Their only competitive match so far was a 3-0 defeat away to Alavés.
- The expected game profile favours Partizan +1.5 AH. Getafe are likely to approach the first leg cautiously given that this is a two-legged tie, while Partizan's priority should be to stay within touching distance ahead of the return leg in Belgrade.
