Trabzonspor vs Ferencvaros prediction 20.08.2026 | Europa League Qualifiers

Trabzonspor had a very good last season, as they finished 3rd, only behind Galatasaray and Fenerbahce. But even those two were fairly close, as they left them eight and five points behind. Besides a good Super Lig campaign, they also won the Cup, but the expectations for this season are massive. 

The main reason for it is the arrival of Mo Salah, who arrived on a free transfer from Liverpool. But he is not their only big signing. They added a total of 12 players, including some interesting pieces like Ruslan Malinovsky, Aral Simsir, Ernest Muci, and Sidny Lopes Cabral... To be fair, a lot of players left the club as well, but the impression is that they improved the squad significantly. 

Still, the Black Sea Storm opened the season with a 1:1 draw at Kashimpasa on the road despite being the bookies' favorite.

Ferencváros were a dominant force in Hungary, winning seven consecutive titles between 2019 and 2025. However, last season they failed to extend their streak, finishing 2nd, just one point away from the title. However, by winning the Cup, they at least won one title. 

This year, Ferencvaros have already played a considerable number of games across competitions. They eliminated Vojvodina and Twente in the Europa League on a 5:1 and 3:2 aggregate. However, their performances in the domestic league have been far from impressive: they have secured one win, one draw, and one loss, and they are currently 8th. 

After a 1:0 win over Zalaegerszegi, coach Balázs Borbély spoke to the media. He said the team struggled for large parts of the game but was pleased they secured their first league win of the season. When asked why he had not rotated the squad much before the EL Qualifiers game, the coach explained that they needed points in this match after collecting only one from the first two games.
