Fredrikstad vs Sandefjord prediction 01.08.2026 | Eliteserien

After two good mid-table seasons, it seems that Fredrikstad will have a much harder 2026 campaign. They had a good start, but recent terrible form has put Fredrikstad only two points ahead of the relegation zone. Since the World Cup break, Casper Rojkjaer's team lost all three games with a 0:7 goal difference. The worst performance came in the most recent outing, when Fredrikstad lost 4-0 on the road against Rosenborg. The guests were completely outplayed and never had a real chance for points against excellent hosts. 

Since the last Eliteserien round, Fredrikstad signed Isak Helstad Amundsen from Molde. The defender appeared in only six league matches this season, and while at the new club he will not be a priority, either, he should provide some depth.  

Fredrikstad have some injury problems. They will be without Sigurd Kvile on Saturday, while Samuel Holm and Sondre Sorlokk are questionable. 

Sandefjord are another team that was excellent at some point, but the recent terrible form has cost them a much better position. At almost half of the 2026 season, Andreas Tegstrom's team are three points ahead of the drop zone, and Sandefjord are facing a much more stressful campaign than they expected. Tegstrom's team has disappointed lately, with only points in the last six matches. In the previous game, Sandefjord lost 3-0 at home against Bodo/Glimt. The guests ended with an xG of 3.23, while the hosts had only 0.62, so anything other than a Sandefjord defeat would be shocking. 

The biggest problem for Sandefjord lately is their terrible defense. They conceded 13 goals in the previous six games. One of the reasons for Sandefjord's struggles is the departure of center-back Zinedin Smajlovic. Tegstrom's team brought in replacements, but they don't seem to be at an adequate level. 

Filip Loftesnes-Bjune is injured and will not play on Saturday afternoon in Fredrikstad.
