Elche return to the Estadio Martínez Valero after a hard-fought 3:2 defeat against Racing Santander at El Sardinero.

Martín Anselmi’s men found themselves three goals behind at half-time following a superb Yassir Zabiri hat-trick.

Buba Sangaré and Fer Niño gave Elche hope with two quick goals after the interval, but the newly promoted side were unable to complete a remarkable comeback. 

Despite enjoying 60% possession and registering 18 attempts, Elche produced only 1.03 expected goals in another defensively vulnerable display.

Real Sociedad make the trip to Elche after being held to a goalless draw by Celta Vigo on Thursday.

Pellegrino Matarazzo could make some changes to his first XI after Thursday’s demanding contest against Celta. Orri Oskarsson, Takefusa Kubo and Luka Sucic are among those pushing for recalls to the first XI.

Jon Pacheco, Álvaro Odriozola and Pablo Marín are expected to remain unavailable through injury.
