In previous seasons, Barracas Central finished 6th in the Clausura and 7th in the Apertura, securing their spot in the Copa Sudamericana. There, they had a mediocre start, given their two goalless draws in the first two rounds. When it comes to the domestic league, they are in their usual spot, considering they are in 7th place with 19 points from 13 rounds. Even though they are averaging around the same number of points at home and on the road, the impression is that the popular Baraqueños are playing a much better football on their pitch. 

After a goalless draw with Olimpia Asuncion in the previous game, coach Rubén Insúa spoke to the media. The coach was happy with their collective organization and defensive discipline. He said they did not have too many troubles defending, even though Olimplia dominated possession. Generally speaking, the coach was satisfied with one point on the road.

Belgrano weren't among the best teams in the league in recent years, pretty much consistently being in the lower half of the league table. However, this year the Pirates are doing much better. After the first 13 rounds, they sit in a surprising 4th place with 22 points. 

In the previous game against Aldosivi, Belgrano won 1:0 but lost two players. Right winger Emiliano Rigoni received a straight red card and will serve his suspension, while left winger Juan Velázquez suffered an injury and will most likely be sidelined. 

After the latest win over Aldosivi, coach Ricardo Zielinski spoke to the media. He emphasized that it was a tight and hard-fought win. Even though he was happy with a win, he said they still need to improve, especially in managing games better after taking the lead.
