AS Roma vs Fiorentina prediction 24.08.2026 | Serie A

Last season was one of the best in AS Roma's recent history. They finished third in the standings and returned to the Champions League for the first time since the 2017/18 campaign. Gian Piero Gasperini's team has big ambitions for the upcoming year, but playing in the most elite continental competition is always challenging, and it remains to be seen how much AS Roma can achieve. 

During the preseason, AS Roma struggled, winning only one of five matches. In the previous game, Gasperini's team played to a 2-2 draw against Borussia Dortmund. The most worrying thing for AS Roma is their defense, as they conceded 13 goals in five matches this summer. 

Many players left AS Roma this summer, but the most important players remained with the team. On the other hand, Gasperini's team added Santiago Castro (from Bologna), Rodrigo Mora (Porto), Konstantinos Koulierakis (Wolfsburg), and Nahuel Molina (Atletico Madrid). Also, the permanent deals signed were Donyell Malen and Daniele Ghilardi, who spent last season on loan at AS Roma. 

Lorenzo Pellegrini should be the only one missing for the opening round against Fiorentina. 

Last season was terrible for Fiorentina. At one point, they were in danger of relegation, but eventually the team from Florence finished with eight points above the drop zone. Fiorentina are coming into the 2026/27 campaign with ambitions to return to the top half and to compete for the spots in the UEFA competitions. 

The previous weeks have given the team a lot of confidence, with only one defeat in seven matches. They already started the new season with a 4-1 win in the Coppa Italia against Benevento. That was another match in which Fiorentina's attack was top-class, and they will surely travel to Rome with a lot of confidence. 

Fiorentina invested a lot this summer. The most intriguing signing is Chris Inao Oulai, who appeared in 25 games for Trabzonspor last season. The other notable additions are Arthur Atta (from Udinese), Mateo Pellegrino (Parma), Viery (Gremio), Giovanni Fabbian (Bologna), and Marco Brescianini (Atalanta). Also, Fiorentina loaned Franco Mastantuono (Real Madrid) and Alex Jimenez (Bournemouth). 

Fabiano Parisi and Riccardo Sotil are injured and are unavailable for the game on Monday.
