UFC on ESPN 70: Lewis vs. Teixeira – Predictions and betting odds

After a one-week absence, UFC returns with a fight night event in Nashville on July 12, 2025, headlined by a 5-round heavyweight bout between Derrick Lewis and undefeated prospect Tallison Teixeira.

In this article, Mightytips' pundits will preview the main card and try to find interesting spots for value betting. We gathered the odds from bet365, a recognised bookmaker worldwide and our long-term partner.

Junior Tafa (1.58) vs. Tuco Toccos (2.40)

Tafa makes his debut in the light heavyweight division, and we believe it will be a successful one. While Tafa is clearly in shape, according to his Instagram, Toccos lost both of his UFC fights and hasn't shown any kind of resistance. We'll be brave enough to say that he shouldn't be in the UFC. We predict that Tafa will get a TKO win (at 1.83), but you might opt for a safer bet, taking his victory by any method at 1.58.

Vitor Petrino (1.16) vs. Austen Lane (5.50)

This fight is pretty much the same as the previous one, albeit with a much clearer favourite according to the bookies. Petrino was finished in his last two fights, but he is of a much higher class than Lane. The American was knocked out in three of his last four bouts and lacks the skills to hold his opponent on the ground. We expect Petrino to knock Lane out at 1.40. However, as the odds are not that impressive, Petrino winning in the first round at 2.25 looks far more promising.

Nate Landwehr (3.25) vs. Morgan Charrière (1.36)

This fight might be much closer than the odds suggest. Charrière, fighting under the Jolly Roger flag, has to be the favourite, yet Landwehr has his keys to victory if he'll manage to press forward without getting chinned. The problem is that he is already 37, eight years older than his opponent, and he looked poor in his last bout against Doo Ho Choi. Given the aggressive style of Nate the Train, we'll predict that the fight won't go the distance at 1.95.

Calvin Kattar (2.00) vs. Steve Garcia (1.80)

We were stunned by the odds here. Kattar is at the dawn of his career and has a 4-fight losing streak, whilst Garcia, five years younger, finished his last five opponents. Garcia will burst forward immediately with his boxing, and his wrestling is decent, too. While we can question Garcia's endurance, he should take the first two rounds and might even knock Kattar out. This looks like a good spot to take Garcia's victory at 1.80.

Stephen Thompson (4.00) - Gabriel Bonfim (1.25)

The evergreen Wonderboy, 42, welcomes to the cage a Brazilian prospect in Bonfim, who is 15 years younger. We all love Thompson and his fighting style, but he'll inevitably finish his career very soon, probably after this bout. Thompson has neither grappling nor takedown defence, while 13 of 17 Bonfim's wins came by way of submission. However, his opposition was way worse than what Thompson could offer. Gun to the head, we'd go with Bonfim by SUB at 2.50, but the best option here is a simple pass.

Derrick Lewis (3.25) vs. Tallison Teixeira (1.36)

The main event features another Brazilian prospect in Teixeira and Derrick "Black Beast" Lewis, the UFC record holder with 15 knockouts. Teixeira has eight finishes in 8 fights, but we can easily say that his opposition was garbage. He never went past the first round in his career either, and now he comes up against Lewis, who might be 40, but still has devastating power in his hands and fought five rounds against Jailton Almeida in November 2023. We believe the odds should be closer, and our tip is to bet half a unit on Lewis to win by KO at 3.75.
