Walsall

Walsall team overview

Walsall return to League Two action after securing an impressive 3:0 home victory against Oldham Athletic on Tuesday.

Tai Sodje opened the scoring before Aaron Pressley struck twice to complete a commanding victory at Bescot Stadium.

Mat Sadler's side were good value for their victory. They outshot Oldham 22-15, recorded a higher xG total (2.29-1.53) and won eight corners to the visitors' one.

Tuesday’s win extended Walsall's unbeaten league start to 12 matches. The Saddlers have won five and drawn seven games, scoring 19 goals while conceding only seven.

Walsall have been particularly difficult to beat at Bescot Stadium. Sadler's men are unbeaten in six home league fixtures this season.

While in excellent form, clean sheets have been rare in recent weeks. Both teams scored in five of Walsall's previous six matches in all competitions.

Head coach Sadler has some absentees this week. Ahui is suspended following his red card against Oldham, while Antony Evans and Alex Pattison remain long-term absentees. Courtney requires a late fitness test after picking up an ankle injury.

Salford City

Salford City team overview

Salford City make the short trip to Walsall after claiming a well-deserved 2:1 win at Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.

Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu and Daniel Udoh scored inside the opening 20 minutes before Jack Sparkes pulled one back after half-time. Despite a competitive second half, Peter Cklamovski's side held firm to secure another important away victory.

Since losing their first three games of the season, Salford have been in sensational form, picking up eight wins and one draw in their last nine League Two fixtures.

The Ammies now sit top of the table, four points clear of second-placed Barnet.

Salford have been particularly impressive on their travels. Monday's visitors have won four of their six away league matches, including each of their last three road trips.

Cklamovski's men have been dangerous in the final third with 19 goals scored in 12 league fixtures, including at least two goals in four of their last five wins.

The Ammies have no reported injury issues this week. Macaulay Langstaff and Jorge Grant are pushing for recalls after appearing from the bench on Tuesday.
