Palace's recent league form has been disappointing, with their latest outing ending in a humiliating 5-0 defeat away to Brighton. Premier League matters aside, Pierre Sage's side had also failed to win either of their Europa League outings, drawing 2-2 with Besiktas on Thursday and crumbling to a 3-2 defeat away at Lyon.

There are also selection concerns. Chadi Riad remains sidelined with a long-term knee problem, while Takehiro Tomiyasu is out until the next international break. Dean Henderson has returned to training and could potentially feature, although his availability remains uncertain. 

Axel Disasi is suspended, while Jean-Philippe Mateta's fitness will need monitoring after his recent injury.

Newcastle have endured an equally inconsistent campaign, taking just eight points from seven matches. They have lost three of their last four league fixtures, including consecutive 4-1 defeats against Leeds and Coventry, before suffering a 1-0 home loss to Aston Villa. 

The visitors, meanwhile, are free from European commitments and should enter this fixture with greater mental and physical freshness, or at least less fatigue.

Anthony Elanga and Jacob Ramsey are major doubts but have been progressing towards a return to training. Newcastle have no suspensions for the match.
