Viborg come into Monday’s Mid-Jutland derby contest in high spirits after securing a deserved 2:0 victory against Randers last Sunday.

Dorian Hanza headed the visitors into a first-half lead before substitute Valgeir Lunddal secured the points with a late goal in the second half.

The Greens had not played since an impressive 4:1 home victory against Nordsjaelland before the international break.

Unbeaten in their last three matches, Viborg have enjoyed an excellent start to the campaign, collecting 20 points from ten fixtures. Nickolai Konig Lund’s side sit third in the Superliga standings and only two points behind Midtjylland.

Particularly strong at home, the Greens won four of five Superliga games at Viborg Stadion this season, including a rousing 4:0 home win against league leaders FC Kobenhavn. 

Recent results against Midtjylland should offer further encouragement for the hosts. Viborg lost just one of their last five meetings, including a 1:0 win at this venue two years ago. 

Head coach Lund has three expected absentees this week. Mohamed Riahi, Tim Freriks and Yonis Njoh are set to remain unavailable with various injury issues. 

Lunddal is pushing for a starting position after scoring from the bench at Randers.

Midtjylland make the short trip to Viborg after picking-up a 1:1 Conference League draw against Egnatia in Albania on Thursday.

Ildi Gruda gave the Albanian champions the lead before Cho Gue-sung quickly levelled the contest. 

Mike Tullberg's men have been tough-to-beat this season and come into Monday’s matchup unbeaten in their last 15 games across all competitions. 

Before their midweek European draw, the Wolves claimed an important 2:1 league victory against title-rivals Copenhagen.

Midtjylland remain unbeaten after ten Superliga matches, winning six and drawing four. The visitors scored 19 goals during that sequence, although they have kept only three clean sheets.

A solid choice for goal chasers, Tullberg's side have seen BTTS in five of their last six matches across all competitions. 

Head coach Tullberg is likely to make some changes to his selection on Monday. Pedro Bravo and Stanley Iheanacho are among those pushing for recalls while Rasmus Nissen Kristensen is available after serving a domestic suspension. 

Elias Olafsson, Magnus Jensen, Martin Erlic, Victor Bak and Mikel Gogorza are expected to remain sidelined with various injury issues.
