Sabah vs Borussia Dortmund prediction 20.10.2026 | Champions League

Sabah Baku was founded only nine years ago and managed to win their first league title last year. They were pretty dominant last season, leaving 2nd-placed Qarabag nine points behind. This season, they look like the best team in Azerbaijan with 19 points in seven rounds. They also did great in the Champions League, eliminating TNS, KuPS, Aarhus, and Hapoel Beer Sheva in the qualifiers. Even though they had an atrocious start in the main phase, losing 4:0 to MU, they bounced back with a 2:0 win over Slavia Prague in the second round. If they grab points in this home game, they'll face Viking next and have a real chance to collect more points, potentially advancing unexpectedly to the next stage.

In the previous game against Gabala, coach Valdas Dambrauskas rested their entire starting XI, including the goalkeeper! Also, coach Dambrauskas will be happy to have the entire squad available, as he has no injured or suspended players on the team. 

Borussia Dortmund finished 2nd last year, once again behind Bayern Munich. This year, the Prussians started the season great with six wins in seven games across competitions, including the win over Villarreal in the Champions League. However, in recent matches, they slowed down massively, winning two points in the past three games. Their 1:0 loss to Bodo/Glimt was particularly bad, as the Norwegian team pretty much dominated them, especially in the first half. It is evident they are not in the best form, and even though they are a massive favorite against Sabah Baku, the game may not be as easy as the odds suggest. 

In the previous game against Union Berlin, Konstantinos Karetsas suffered an ankle injury after only eight minutes on the pitch and will most likely miss several weeks. Moreover, Justin Lerma, Giannis Konstantelias, and Emre Can should remain sidelined with their injuries.
