Pafos vs Villarreal prediction 05.11.2025 | Champions League

In their debut appearance in the Champions League, Pafos exceeded some expectations by collecting two points in the opening three rounds. However, they have to win against somebody to have a chance to progress to the next phase. In the Cyprus national league, Pafos are only one point behind the league leader, Omonia. 

Pafos haven't played well lately, as they were on a run of three games without a victory until last weekend, when Juan Carlos Carcedo's team won 1-0 at home against AEL Limassol. According to the stats, the teams were pretty similar in that match, and Pafos were fortunate to secure victory. They obviously need to do much better on Wednesday against Villarreal. 

Pafos' Joao Correia is suspended due to a red card in the previous Champions League round. Also, Ivan Sunjic is questionable, and his status will be clearer closer to the kickoff. 

After three seasons without the Champions League, Villarreal returned to the most elite European competition. They didn't start well, with only one point in three rounds, but there is more than enough time to collect enough points to end up among the 24 teams and qualify for the next phase. On the other hand, Marcelino's team are playing well in La Liga, where they are third on the table. Villarreal won the last three matches in all competitions. In the most recent outing, Marcelino's team won 4-0 at home against Rayo Vallecano. The home side ended with an xG of 3.02, while the guests had 1.02, so Villarreal's victory was well-deserved.

After a win in La Liga over the weekend, Villarreal's head coach, Marcelino, talked about the upcoming game against Pafos. He said, "If we play like this, we have a chance to win. It's a very important match, and we all know it. Winning away from home in the Champions League is very difficult, and we need a lot of humility. If we win on Wednesday, we'll put ourselves in a good position to qualify, and we're aware of that."

Villarreal doesn't have big problems with injuries, either. They will be without Willy Kambwala, Logan Costa, and Pau Cabanes on Wednesday in Limassol.
