Northampton turn their attention to EFL Trophy action after a vital League One win against Mansfield last weekend. Tom Eaves's second-half penalty secured a 2:1 comeback victory for Kevin Nolan's side. 

The Cobblers had failed to win each of three previous matches before their morale-boosting win at Sixfields. Placed 13th in League One, Northampton have a decent record in home fixtures with three wins picked up in their last five games at this venue. 

A high-scoring outcome could be on the cards on Tuesday. Four of Northampton's last six games finished with under 2.5 goals scored and something similar seems likely this week.

Head coach Nolan is expected to make at least one change to his first XI on Tuesday. Tom Eaves is set to earn a recall after his goalscoring substitute appearance against Mansfield.

Shrewsbury return to EFL Trophy action after a disappointing 3:1 road reversal against Crewe Alexandra last weekend. Omar Bogle's stoppage-time penalty put the seal on a well-deserved win for the Alex. 

The Shrews had enjoyed a five-game unbeaten run before Saturday's League Two defeat. A largely disappointing campaign sees the visitors placed second-bottom of the division, with just 13 points picked up from 15 matches played.

A poor away record has been a big issue for Michael Appleton's men. Shrewsbury lost six of ten games on their travels this season, with just two wins picked up in that period.

Head coach Appleton could make some changes to his side this week. John Marquis and Tom Anderson are among those in contention to earn recalls.
