Newcastle vs Tottenham prediction 29.10.2025 | EFL Cup

When the Saudi Arabian consortium bought Newcastle in 2021, most expected the team from St. James' Park to instantly become one of England's best teams. However, four years later, Newcastle have only two top-five finishes. Eddie Howe's team didn't start the current campaign well, either, as they collected only 12 points in the first nine league rounds. Newcastle are already ten points behind the league leader, Arsenal. However, Howe's team has improved lately, winning four of the last five matches in all competitions. Last weekend, Newcastle won 2-1 at home against Fulham. 

Newcastle will be without injured Yoane Wissa, Lewis Hall, Valentino Livramento, and Harrison Ashby on Wednesday against Tottenham. 

The EFL Cup matches are usually a good opportunity to rotate the squad and rest some regular starters. We should expect Aaron Ramsdale, Emil Krafth, William Osula, and Anthony Elanga to start on Wednesday night. 

After a terrible last season and 17th position in the Premier League, Tottenham returned to the right track this season with third position on the table after the first nine league rounds. Tottenham are playing well lately as they have lost only one of their last ten matches in all competitions. In the most recent outing, Tottenham won 3-0 on the road against Everton. The guests were much better in the first half, scoring two goals and cruising in the rest of the clash at Hill Dickinson Stadium. 

Tottenham have big problems with missing players. They will be without Radu Dragusin, Ben Davies, James Madisson, Dejan Kulusevski, Dominic Solanke, Yves Bissouma, Destiny Udogie, Kota Takai, and Cristian Romero on Wednesday night. Also, Thomas Frank might decide to rotate the squad to rest some players for Tottenham's challenging game on Saturday against Chelsea.
