Champions League
The only H2H match between the two sides was last Tuesday in Baku, when Sabah won 1-0. The hosts ended with 64% ball possession and 13 shots on goal more than their opponents, so KuPS could be very fortunate with a minimal defeat.
KuPS team overview
For the last few seasons, KuPS have been the dominant force in Finnish football. After Veikkausliiga titles in 2024 and 2025, the team from Kuopio is on course to another trophy. After 17 rounds in the current campaign, Miika Nuutinen's team is five points ahead of the next team on the table, Inter Turku. KuPS are making progress at European level, too, as they competed in the Conference League last season. Now, Nuutinen's team is only one more victory away from securing another autumn in any of three continental competitions.
KuPS haven't impressed so far in the Champions League qualification, with only one victory in three matches. On the other hand, in the Finnish Veikkausliiga, KuPS triumphed in the last five games. In the most recent outing, they won 3-1 at home against VPS. The hosts dominated in the first thirty minutes, and that was enough for another domestic victory.
KuPS have some injury problems. Samuel Pasanen and Jerry Voutilainen are out for Tuesday, while Calvin Kabuye is questionable, and his status will get clearer closer to the kickoff.

Sabah team overview
Last season, Sabah won their first Azerbaijani league title. They surprisingly finished ahead of Qarabag and now have an opportunity to debut in one of the European competition group phases. Sabah have regularly featured in European qualifying in recent years but have never progressed to the main stage. However, beginning their campaign in the Champions League qualifiers gives them several potential routes into one of UEFA's league phases.
The Azerbaijani's league still hasn't started, so Sabah's only matches were in the Champions League qualifiers, and they won all of them. In the first round, Sabah won 4-1 on aggregate against TNS. Now, they are on course to beat KuPS, too, and Sabah are hoping to meet Aarhus or Lech Poznan in the next round.
Khayal Aliyev is injured and should be the only Sabah player to miss the trip to Kuopio.
