KTP vs Ekenas prediction 12.06.2026 | Ykkosliiga

After relegation from Veikkausliiga last season, KTP wants to return to the strongest domestic competition. They are at the top of the Ykkosliiga standings with four points more than the next team, Haka, and are the favorite for promotion. KTP were recently on an impressive run of five wins in a row. The streak ended on Monday, when Juha Pasoja's team lost 2-0 at home against Haka. Although KTP lost, they ended with 12 more shots on goal than their opponent and probably deserved to score at least once.

KTP's head coach, Juha Pasoja, was disappointed with the defeat in the previous match. He said, "We defended a couple of long balls poorly. In the EIF game and here, the defense made some small mistakes. However, what is more worrying is that goals have to be scored from goal positions. We had three chances in the first half in the space of five minutes that we should have scored from. Scoring goals has been difficult in other games as well."

KTP's biggest problem is surely their attack. Only 11 goals in 10 league rounds keep us wondering how they are still at the top of the standings. We should expect KTP to add more attacking power this summer in their quest for promotion.

Ekenas are in the group of teams that could fight for the promotion playoff, but it is more realistic to finish in the mid-table. They are currently three points behind Haka and need to maintain good form to have a chance of returning to the Veikkausliiga after two seasons. Ekenas have won three of the last four matches. In the previous game, they won 1-0 at home against Mikkeli. 

Ekenas would have many more chances for promotion if they could take some points away from home. So far, they have lost all four road games. Also, Ekenas conceded 12 goals in those four matches. And now, they are traveling to Kotka to meet with probably the best team in the division.
