Inter vs Napoli prediction 05.09.2026 | Serie A

Inter had an excellent season, winning the double under Cristian Chivu. However, the impression is that they had to do a much better job in the Champions League, given the fact that Bodo/Glimt eliminated them in the 1/16 Finals. Over the summer, we believe Nerazzurri improved the squad and are looking even more capable of playing on multiple fronts. 

This season, Nerazzurri won 4:1 against Monza and 1:0 against Cagliari. However, they created numerous chances against Cagliari, finishing with 3.67 xG. So, even though that win doesn't look impressive at first glance, Inter are playing really good football and are deservedly considered a pretty big favorite against Napoli. 

Summer signing Djed Spence missed the first two games due to a minor injury. Even though the injury isn't too serious, Inter doesn't want to rush him, and the Englishman will most likely miss the upcoming game vs Napoli. 

Napoli finished second last season, but weren't too close to Inter, as they finished 11 points behind. But their performance in the Champions League was truly worrisome, as they failed to secure the knockout phase. During the summer window, Gli Azzurri improved the squad a bit, but we believe that replacing Antonio Conte with Massimiliano Allegri is a pretty considerable downgrade. 

This season, Napoli started off well, beating Genoa 2:0 on the road. However, they failed their first big test after Como won 2:1 against them in Naples. After the loss, coach Massimiliano Allegri spoke to the media, saying they need to improve defensively and play with more aggression. He added that they dominated the second half but lacked efficiency. 

For the upcoming game, Alessandro Buongiorno and Luca Marianucci should remain sidelined with injuries, while Scott McTominay will most likely be out due to heart problems.
