On Tuesday evening, League Two side Fleetwood will welcome English reigning champions Arsenal to the EFL Cup 1/8 Finals in their first-ever head-to-head game. The hosts come to the game after back-to-back games against Exeter and Cheltenham, while Arsenal won 2:0 to Everton in their last game.
Let's break down the game and find the best possible bet for this EFL Cup tie.
Fleetwood team overview
Fleetwood have been 14th and 15th in the previous two League Two campaigns. This season, the Fishermen again had a slow start. After 13 rounds, they are in 18th place with 14 points. However, most of their poor results came on the road. At home, they lost just once in ten games across competitions, which gives them some optimism that they can make this game close against a (probably) rotated Arsenal squad. However, as expected, Fleetwood are massive underdogs, and a positive result here would be their biggest result ever. Some bookies even offer the odds of 55 for them to win the game and around 12 to advance to the next phase of the competition.
Luckily for coach Matt Lawlor, he will have the entire squad available for the EFL Cup game. Central defender Rhys Bennett was suspended for the previous League Two game, but he is available for the EFL Cup game, and we should see him in the starting XI.

Arsenal team overview
Arsenal are looking again like the main candidate for the Premier League title. After Manchester City's loss to Aston Villa, the Gunners and the Citizens are now tied on the league table with 21 points from eight games each. But generally speaking, Arsenal are looking very stable, and it is incredibly difficult to get a result against them. Even if it doesn't look great, they somehow find a way to win, just like they did last season.
Coach Arteta is expected to heavily rotate the squad to give some of his key players some rest. We will most likely see Max Dowman again, a 16-year-old who had an amazing game against Ipswich in the previous round of the EFL Cup when he scored twice.
When it comes to injuries, the Gunners shouldn't have any new ones, but Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, and Christos Tzolis should remain sidelined with their injuries.

Prediction
While we are more than sure that Arsenal will score pretty easily, we do not think the same for Fleetwood. The Fishermen are averaging only 1.15 goals per game in League Two, and expecting they can find a goal against Arsenal seems very unlikely. The Gunners' defense kept a clean sheet in eight out of 13 games across competitions while exclusively facing much better teams than Fleetwood.
The only downside to this bet is the fact that Arsenal will rotate the squad. Still, they have a really deep squad and their rotated squad would probably dominate most Premier League sides.
Considering all the above and especially how good Arsenal looks on defense, we believe that BTTS - NO is the safest option for this EFL Cup tie.
3 Reasons why at least one team should fail to score
- Fleetwood averages only 1.15 goals per game in League Two
- Arsenal kept a clean sheet in eight out of 13 games across competitions
- Arsenal kept a clean sheet in three of the past four games across competitions
Main prediction Fleetwood - Arsenal
Both Teams to Score - NO
