Dresden were sharp in the third tier last season, finishing second with a hefty 70 points, and a big part of that push came from their form at home. Oddly enough, that same spark hasn’t translated this year.

At the Stade Raymond Kopa, Thomas Stamm’s side have managed only one win from eight attempts, which is a pretty stark drop off. Still, that win came not too long ago, and you can almost feel the squad trying to convince themselves that Braunschweig are beatable in their current state.

Christoph Daferner, who leads the club in goals with six across all competitions, sat out the loss to FCK because of a head knock. From what’s been said, he won’t be ready in time for Friday either.

Boss Thomas Stamm also has to juggle a stack of absences: Jakob Zickler, Sascha Risch, Tony Menzel, Jan Hendrik Marx and Lennart Grill are all sidelined with various knocks and muscle problems.

Braunschweig scraped through the relegation playoff last season and, well, it feels like some of that tension has carried over. Die Löwen have picked up only four wins from fifteen games, keeping them barely two points above the bottom two.  

And their away form has been especially shaky, with two straight road defeats coming into this one. To be fair, Heiner Backhaus’ side did steady themselves a bit at home with two unbeaten matches, although those performances haven’t fully convinced supporters that the worst is behind them.

Lukas Frenkert won’t feature after being sent off in the draw with Holstein Kiel last weekend. The injury list is still a concern too, with Frederik Jäkel, Lino Tempelmann and Florian Flick all dealing with longer term ligament and muscle issues.
