Djibouti vs Egypt prediction 08.10.2025 | World Cup 2026 qualifiers

Djibouti comes into Wednesday's FIFA World Cup qualifier after yet another defeat suffered in their most recent matchup against Guinea-Bissau last month. Two goals conceded in the second period ensured a fifth successive defeat for Stéphane Nado´s side.

A dismal campaign has seen the Riverains de la Mer Rouge pick up just one point from eight games played. Nado´s men leaked 28 goals across those eight fixtures.

The out-of-form home side have now failed to win any of their last 12 international matches since November 2023. Djibouti lost by three goals or more in three of their last four games, and another high-scoring defeat is expected this week.

Stéphane Nado could hand debuts to several new faces included in his squad this week. Experienced forward Mahdi Houssein Mahabeh is likely to lead the hosts attack.

Egypt make the trip to Stade Larbi Zaouli unbeaten in six games after a comfortable 3:0 friendly win against Tunisia last month. Mido Gaber was among the goals in a routine victory for Hossam Hassan´s side.

A strong run of form has seen the Pharaohs lose just one of their last 15 international fixtures, while they remain unbeaten in eight games completed in their successful World Cup qualification campaign.  

Sitting at the top of the section, Egypt sit five points clear of second-placed Burkina Faso with just two games to play. A win on Wednesday will secure a first place finish for the Pharaohs. 

A defensively strong Egypt should be expected to keep the door shut this week. Hossam Hassan´s side kept clean sheets in each of their last six games.

Head coach Hassan has a strong squad available this week. Premier League forwards Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush are both expected to feature for the Group A table-toppers.
