Last season, Accrington had problems with avoiding relegation from League Two, but eventually, they ended with eight points more than the drop zone. Accrington are hardly better this season and could be in trouble again. After the first ten league rounds, they collected nine points and are three points above the relegation zone. Accrington lost the last two matches. In the previous game, they lost 2-0 on the road against Barnet. The home side had significantly better goal-scoring chances, so it is no wonder that Accrington stayed empty-handed again.

Accrington's head coach, John Doolan, was disappointed with how his players handled the goal-scoring opportunities. He said, "Funnily enough, our finishing was excellent on Friday in training. But we have to put this into execution when it really matters the most and apply what we practised during the week. It can be frustrating at times. We have to make it count, and scoring goals does that, which is as simple as that."

Shaun Whalley, Tyler Walton, and Farren Rawson are injured and will not play against Port Vale on Tuesday. Also, Devon Matthews is suspended for the upcoming tie.

Port Vale were excellent last season in League Two, so they returned to the higher division after only one season. The 2025/26 season will be significantly more challenging for Darren Moore's team, as they collected only 12 points in the first 11 matches and are only three points above the relegation zone. Port Vale played well recently as they are undefeated in their last four league matches. In the previous game, they played 0-0 on the road against Northampton. The match was played in terrible conditions dictated by the weather, so neither of the teams showed much. 

Port Vale have some problems with missing players, too. They will be without Kyle John, Liam Gordon, and Mitchell Clark on Tuesday in Accrington.
