Cheltenham vs Exeter prediction 13.08.2025 | EFL Cup

Cheltenham turns their attention to EFL Cup business after a disappointing start to their League Two campaign. After a 1:0 reversal on the road at Cambridge, Michael Flynn's side slumped to  2:0 home defeat against Chesterfield on Saturday.

A lack of wins has been an issue for the home side this year, with only six victories picked up in 18 matches played since the start of March. 

Similarly inconsistent in home matches, Cheltenham lost four of their last seven games at Whaddon Road. 

Head coach Flynn could opt to shuffle his pack on Wednesday. Jordan Thomas and Jake Bickerstaff are among those who could earn recalls to the first XI.

Exeter make the trip to Cheltenham with confidence raised after a superb 4:1 win against Blackpool last weekend. In an impressive performance, four different players got their name on the scoresheet as the Grecians claimed their first win of the season.

A strong run of form in pre-season saw Exeter remain unbeaten in four matches, including three victories before the start of the League One campaign.

Decent on their travels, Exeter claimed victory in two of their last four League One road contests, and they will feel confident to secure a win against a League Two side that has struggled for form in recent weeks.

Head coach Gary Caldwell is likely to name the same XI that eased past Blackpool. The Grecians have no reported injury issue.
