Belgian Pro League predictions 2025/26
Sixteen teams are playing in the top division once again, so there are 30 rounds of league phase matches, many playoff games, and lots of expert Belgium Pro League tips ahead. KV Kortrijk and Beerschot were relegated last season, while Cercle Brugge have kept their place in the elite after winning in the promotion/relegation playoffs. SV Zulte Waregem and La Louvière are returning to the top tier and will aim to stay there.
Union Saint-Gilloise will try to defend the championship title after claiming it for the 12th time in their history. Curiously, the Old Lady celebrated triumph 90 years after their previous victory in the 1934/35 season. They are among the top contenders once again, although the bookies see Club Brugge as the favourites. RSC Anderlecht and KRC Genk also aim for first place, so this campaign promises to be a very intriguing one. Pro League Playoffs
The top six teams enter the championship playoffs. They play a round-robin tournament, and each team starts with half of the points won in the regular season, rounded up to the nearest integer. The two best teams earn a spot in the Champions League, while the third and fourth clubs will compete in the Europa League.
The Europe playoff is played by the teams in positions 7 through 12. They play a round-robin tournament too, with each team starting with half the points obtained during the regular season. The winner of the Europe playoff faces the team finishing fifth in the championship playoff for a Europa Conference League spot.
The bottom four teams after the regular season play in the relegation playoffs, a round-robin tournament in which they start with the full points obtained during the regular season. As the top division will be extended to 18 teams for the 26/27 season, no teams will be relegated automatically. Club Brugge look like the team to beat in the 25/26 season. Losing Ardon Jashari, Maxim De Cuyper, and Chemsdine Talbi in midseason, they've signed Ludovit Reis, Carlos Forbs, Aleksandar Stanković, and Nicolò Tresoldi to replace them. Nicky Hayen already proved he fits perfectly into the manager role, and consistent home form at Jan Breydel Stadium is another considerable advantage for the Blauw-Zwart.
The defending champions Union Saint-Gilloise have lost at least three of their leaders in Noah Sadiki, Mohamed Amoura, and Franjo Ivanović. The club opted to sign young prospects instead, so the manager, Sébastien Pocognoli, will need some time to rebuild. Union SG is not the wealthiest club, but participation in the UEFA Champions League should improve their financial situation.
The most successful Belgian club, RSC Anderlecht, won their last title in the 16/17 season and are dreaming of their 35th triumph. The vastly experienced manager, Besnik Hasi, returned to the club in March 2025, so he had some time to revamp the team. Anderlecht have managed to keep their squad and strengthened it by signing relatively unknown players in the summer. Will this campaign finally bring joy to their fans?
