Belarus will continue their search for their first win in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers this week, when they take on Denmark. This fixture is taking place on neutral ground in Hungary due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Denmark are leading the group with four points from two matches and are the bookies' favourites to win. Read our Belarus vs. Denmark preview to find out everything you need to know about the match, including our predictions and the latest team news.
Belarus team overview
Belarus have finished bottom of their group in each of the last two World Cup qualifiers, and the trend looks set to continue.
Carlos Alós's team started the 2025/26 qualifying campaign with a humiliating 5:1 defeat to Greece, and put in another poor performance in their second game, losing 2:0 to Scotland. The White Wings are now without a win in six matches and have failed to score in half of those.
Yevgeny Malashevich, who has scored four goals and provided four assists in the Belarusian Premier League this season, is expected to start up front, possibly alongside Herman Barkouski, who is set to make his tenth appearance for the White Wings.

Denmark team overview
Meanwhile, Denmark have avoided defeat in all four games since their humiliating 5-2 loss to Portugal in the Nations League quarter-final in March.
During the June international friendlies, Brian Riemer’s team beat Northern Ireland and Lithuania 2-1 and 5-0 respectively.
They continued their good run of form last month, playing to a goalless draw with Scotland and beating Greece 3-0 in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Andreas Skov Olsen and Mikkel Damsgaard, who have each scored one goal in two World Cup qualifying games so far, are likely to join Rasmus Højlund up front.

Prediction
Belarus will be motivated by the fact that they drew three times in their last four meetings with Denmark, but their current form gives them no chance. The Danes have kept three consecutive clean sheets and scored eight goals in that time, so I cannot see them not winning this match. If you're looking for better odds, the over 2.5 goals option is a better bet.
Three reasons we expect at least three goals in this game
- Four of the last five games of Denmark ended with over 2.5 goals.
- Three of the last four games of Belarus produced four or more goals.
- Belarus conceded at least two goals in each of their last five matches.
Main prediction -
Over 2.5 goals
