Al Wahda vs Al Wasl prediction 06.05.2026 | UAE League

Al Wahda have mostly been among the better teams over the past decade, finishing almost exclusively in the top five. Last year, they finished 3rd, and a 3rd-place finish seems like the best-case scenario this season. After 23 rounds, they sit in 5th place, on a level with points with their next opponent, Al Wasl, and just one point away from the desired 3rd place.

To be fair, the season could have gone much better given their strong start. Unfortunately, the second part of the season was really bad, and the eventual elimination from the AFC Champions League in mid-April by Al Ittihad led to a coaching change. Since Hassan Al Abdooli was appointed, the Clarets have played well, beating Al Sharjah 2:0 and then winning the League Cup against Al Ain. So, it seems that the change was much needed, and they definitely have a reason for optimism before these two decisive league games. 

Al Wasl managed to win the title in 2023/24, their eighth ever. However, in the following season, the Cheetahs finished 4th and are around the same placement this season. Similar to Al Wasl, they started the season really well, but as the season progressed, they only looked worse. The main issue this season has been the atrocious road record across competitions. Unfortunately for them, the last two games are both on the road against the 5th- and 3rd-best teams in the league. However, a win in the last road game against Ajman (3:1) may indicate that we could see a much better display.

After a 4:2 win over Dibba Al Fujairah, coach Rui Vitoria spoke to the media. He said they showed a good attacking performance and strong control of the match. However, the coach noted they conceded two goals and that they need to be more focused on the defensive end. Vitoria eventually described the win as very important, which will keep them in the upper part of the league table.
