SC Freiburg welcome RB Salzburg to the Europa-Park Stadion on 11 December. Freiburg have been superb in the Europa League, sitting just one point off the top of the standings and still unbeaten. However, their domestic form is very unstable.
Salzburg is a completely reverse story. They are first in the Austrian Bundesliga, yet the team is having one of the weakest runs in Europe, with just 3 points. In this article, we take a closer look at both teams and share our best betting predictions.

The odds heavily favour Freiburg at 1.42, reflecting their strong European form. Salzburg sit as clear outsiders at 7.00.

Freiburg have collected 11 points from their five games in the Europa League. The team managed to score eight goals and concede only three, with two clean sheets along the way. Their most recent European outing was against Viktoria Plzeň. Domestically, Freiburg continues to struggle for rhythm. They rely on taking points against weaker sides and rarely concede more than once in those matchups. However, their recent game ended in a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Heidenheim, who are hovering near the relegation zone. We've also seen how Freiburg crumbled against the league's elite, most notably in the heavy 6-2 loss to Bayern Munich.
Freiburg's performances in the Europa League have shown far greater composure and control. Salzburg do not pose the same level of threat as Bayern. The team are averaging a solid 1.6 goals per match and conceding just 0.6, which shows how balanced they've been throughout the league phase. The concern for the club is their young defender, Max Rosenfelder, who got injured in the game against Heidenheim. Also, Eren Dinkci and Jordy Makengo are sidelined for this game.

RB Salzburg have plenty of questions hanging over their European form. Their Europa League campaign has been disappointing from start to finish, with their only 2-0 victory over Go Ahead Eagles and four defeats in five matches. They have struggled badly against stronger opposition, conceding ten goals and scoring only five. They've also failed to collect a single point away from home. Heavy losses to Bologna and Lyon showed just how far off the required level they've been in this competition.
Domestically, Salzburg are once again top of the Austrian Bundesliga, but even there the team's form isn't as dominant as in previous seasons. They remain competitive, but the usual aura of control is missing. On top of that inconsistency, injuries also remain an issue. Takumu Kawamura is sidelined with a knee issue, Maurits Kjærgaard has missed three consecutive matches due to a calf injury, and young defender John Mellberg remains unavailable after a long-term knee problem.

Freiburg have been reliable at home this season and should create enough chances to get on the scoresheet again, even with a couple of players missing. Salzburg rarely leaves a match without finding a goal, and their quick attacking style can easily unsettle Freiburg's defence. Both sides look far stronger going forward than they do at the back. Our prediction: Both teams to score at 1.75
Another betting angle worth considering is Over 9 corners. Both teams attack with width and take plenty of shots, which usually leads to many corner kicks throughout the match.
Another solid pick is Over 3.5 cards. Both teams average about 1.5 bookings per game in Europe, and this game will be pretty competitive.
