2025 Ice Hockey World Championship: Predictions & Tips
It's time for the MightyTips pundits to preview the UEFA Europa League final between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, which will take place on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in Bilbao and start at 21:00 CET. We took the odds from our long-running partner, 22Bet. Also, please check our list of the other best football betting sites.
Both teams had a season to forget at the domestic stage. While there's no chance of being relegated for either club, both lost all chances to qualify for one of UEFA's tournaments via the Premier League a long time ago. While there are two more meaningless matches in the league, the final in Bilbao is hugely important for both sides. The Europa League trophy is good, but what's even more crucial is that the winner will get a place in the league phase of the next UEFA Champions League (and huge money that comes with it).
The Spurs have beaten United in all three games this season. In September, they won 3-0 in Erik ten Haag's penultimate match at Old Trafford. Bruno Fernandes was dismissed in that game right before half-time. In February, Tottenham took three points at home thanks to a sole goal by James Maddison. Between those games, the London outfit knocked United out of the EFL Cup in December, celebrating a 4-3 victory at the quarterfinal stage with Dominic Solanke scoring twice.
Both teams have won this tournament previously - United celebrated the victory in 2017, while Tottenham were the winners in 1972 and 1984, when it was called the UEFA Cup. The Mancunians won the FA Cup last year, and that’s how they qualified for the Europa League. On the other hand, the last trophy for the Spurs was the EFL Cup in 2008.
First, the Spurs have a clear psychological edge over Man United with three victories this season, so if we need to pick a side to lift the trophy, it would be the capital club at 2.03. In fact, we think that United are the favourites due to their popularity only. This game should be very open, so betting over 2,5 goals at 1.94 looks promising. Finally, with a lot on the line, tensions high, and the refereeing at the European stage being much stricter than in the Premier League, betting over on yellow cards or even a red card in the match looks reasonable. Unfortunately, no odds were available for the cards at the time of writing. We'll update this article two days before the final next week, when odds will be available for more events, and we'll have more squad news.
