The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations continues today, as Egypt open their tournament against Zimbabwe. This matchup looks like a perfect opportunity for our AFCON Bet of the Day, with one of the continent's giants facing a clear underdog in the early stages of the competition.

Egypt are the heavy favourites, with betting odds of 1.36, while Zimbabwe are priced all the way out at 11.00. Sitting third in the CAF rankings, the Pharaohs arrive with experience and real quality across the pitch. With Mohamed Salah leading the attack, they look well-equipped to dictate the game.
Zimbabwe are clear outsiders in this group. Ranked 36th in the CAF standings, they've struggled badly for form and haven't won a single match since the 2025 COSAFA Cup in June. Given those results, it's difficult to see them even picking up a point against any opponents in their group.
The last head-to-head between Egypt and Zimbabwe came at the AFCON 2019, where Egypt won 1-0. Historically, Zimbabwe have never beaten the Pharaohs. This should be a confident start to Egypt's campaign, so we're backing Egypt to win -1.5 goals at 2.10.
