- Competition: Gold Cup, Final
- Date: Monday, 7th July, 2025
- Kickoff: 00:00 UK / 01:00 CEST
- Venue: NRG Stadium (Houston)
On the night between Sunday and Monday, the USA and Mexico, two teams that won 16 out of 17 Gold Cup titles, will face off in another Gold Cup Finals at NRG Stadium in Houston (USA).
Before the Gold Cup, USAMNT had two pretty bad campaigns. First, they were atrocious in the Copa America, exiting the competition in the group phase, and then did poorly in the CONCACAF Nations League Playoffs, losing to Panama in the Semi-Finals and Canada in a match for third place. However, in the Gold Cup, USMNT did well, winning all five games thus far, although one after the ET vs Costa Rica. Yet, considering the competition they faced, we cannot say they were dominant, as most of the football pundits expected.
Mexico, the reigning Gold Cup champs, also had a terrible Copa America appearance, finishing the competition in the group phase. After that, they managed to secure the CONCACAF title, beating Panama in the Finals. Meanwhile, in the Gold Cup, Mexico did well, winning four of five matches and looking like the best team in the competition. Right now, the bookies see them as the favorite for the title, offering odds around 1.7 on that bet.
USA vs Mexico pick: Both Teams to Score
The USA have been excellent offensively in this tournament, scoring at least once every game. They scored a total of 12 goals - 2.4 per game. They are generally scoring goals regularly and have done so at least once in 11 out of the last 13 games across competitions - almost 85%. Meanwhile, USA's defense weren't impressive, allowing a goal in the last three games against Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Haiti - all teams much weaker than Mexico.
Mexico scored a total of eight goals in the tournament - 1.6 per game. Similarly to USA, Mexico scored in 10 out of the last 12 in all competitions - 83%. To be fair, their defense did look very good in this competition, but they mostly faced teams not even close to USA's level.
Considering both teams' offensive performances in this tournament and in the games before, along with the fact that the USA often plays games with both teams scoring, we believe that a BTTS bet is the safest option for this Gold Cup Finals.
