Stuttgart team overview
Last season, Stuttgart returned to the expected level. They finished fourth in the Bundesliga and are expected to deliver a similar 2026/27 campaign. However, in the first three rounds, they haven't been at that level, collecting only three points so far. In the previous meeting, Stuttgart lost 2-1 on the road against Hoffenheim. Both teams played well and had plenty of chances, but the hosts' better efficiency was enough to leave the visitors empty-handed.
Stuttgart's biggest problem so far this season is their inability to keep a clean sheet. In five games across all competitions, Stuttgart conceded a goal in every match except against lower-tier side Hansa Rostock in the DFB Pokal.
After a defeat in the previous match, Stuttgart's head coach, Sebastian Hoeness, was understandably disappointed. He commented, "For us, the outcome is bitter. We played a good away game, but we didn't manage to make decisive use of the opportunities we had. Overall, I saw an open game. After falling behind, we fought our way back, equalized, and were on top, but we missed the chance to make it 2-1 – and then conceded a second goal that was almost a copy of the first."
Stuttgart's Angelo Stiller suffered an injury in the first half of the previous match. A few days later, the defensive midfielder returned to individual training, but it is still uncertain for Saturday. If Stiller can't play, he will join the already unavailable Dan-Axel Zagadou, Tiago Tomas, Denni Seimen, Nikolas Nartey, Luca Jaquez, Justin Diehl, and Lorenz Assignon.

Borussia Dortmund team overview
It is tough to compete with Bayern Munich, so Borussia Dortmund was satisfied with the second position last season, but would like to challenge the throne in the current campaign. Niko Kovac's team started the season with a Super Cup defeat to Bayern, but has won all five games since. Last weekend, Borussia Dortmund won 3-0 at home against Paderborn. The hosts dominated offensively, limited Paderborn to only a few chances, and eventually picked up another victory.
Borussia's head coach, Niko Kovac, was very satisfied after a victory in the previous Bundesliga round. He stated, "It wasn't easy for the team because Paderborn also played really well, but we didn't allow anything. In the second half, the game opened up a bit, partly because the opponent's energy started to wane. We had enough good chances to score more goals. I was pleased with the team's performance over the full 90 minutes."
Borussia Dortmund have problems with missing players, too. They will be without Justin Lerma, Filippo Mane, Konstantinos Karetsas, Ioannis Konstantelias, Mussa Kaba, and Emre Can on Saturday in Stuttgart.
