Sassuolo vs Udinese prediction 28.09.2025 | Serie A

Sassuolo were part of Serie A for 11 consecutive seasons before they were relegated in 2024. Last year, they bounced back with the title in Serie B and returned to the strongest competition in Italy. Sassuolo entered the 2025/26 season with a lot of confidence to avoid another relegation, but in the opening four league rounds, the team from Reggio Emilio collected only three points. In the most recent outing, Sassuolo lost 3-0 on the road in Coppa Italia against Como. That was another poor defensive display from Fabio Grosso's team. 

Sassuolo's main problems lie on the defensive side as they conceded ten goals in five matches in all competitions. The head coach, Fabio Grosso, is trying to apply high and adaptive pressing, but maybe they should change some principles if things don't go in their direction in the coming weeks.

Sassuolo have almost a full squad available for the upcoming clash, as Yeferson Paz should be the only one out. 

Last season was another in which Udinese were a bottom-half team, but still far enough from the danger zone. The opening four rounds of the 2025/26 season suggest another solid year for Kosta Runjaic's team as they collected seven points in the first four Serie A matches. Udinese continued their fine form on Tuesday, when they won 2-1 at home in the cup against Palermo. 

Like Sassuolo's head coach, Kosta Runjaic, also used the Coppa Italia tie to give a chance to the players who are not regular starters. However, the leading players will return to the starting lineup on Sunday afternoon. 

Suspended Maduka Okoye should be the only Udinese player unavailable for Sunday's game in Reggio Emilia.
