Italy's top two go head-to-head on Saturday as Roma face Inter in a compelling early-season showdown.

Both teams have collected maximum points from their first four Serie A fixtures and will be full of confidence for this weekend’s showdown in Rome.

Roma maintained their perfect record with a comfortable victory at Torino, while Inter recovered from a disastrous start to beat Udinese in an eight-goal thriller.

With both teams in excellent form, a competitive and high-tempo contest can be expected at Stadio Olimpico.

Roma team overview

Roma return to the Olimpico after maintaining their perfect start to the Serie A season with a deserved 2:0 victory against Torino on Monday.

Donyell Malen opened the scoring before Niccolo Pisilli secured the points for the in-form Romans in injury time. The result moved Gian Piero Gasperini's side to the top of the division with 12 points from four matches.

The Giallorossi have been impressive at both ends of the pitch, scoring 12 goals and conceding only once in  their four league victories.

Former Atalanta boss Gasperini has assembled a confident and increasingly versatile squad that looks capable of challenging for the Serie A title. Dutch forward Malen has made a particularly impressive start, scoring six goals in his first four Serie A appearances.

Gaseperini has two confirmed absentees this weekend. Evan Ndicka and Muhammed Bah are expected to remain unavailable.

Manu Kone should return to the midfield after being rested against Torino, while Paulo Dybala and Matias Soule are also pushing for recalls.

Inter team overview

Inter travel to Rome after completing a remarkable comeback in Monday's 5:3 victory against Udinese at San Siro.

Cristian Chivu's side were 2:0 down in the first-half before responding with five unanswered goals. Carlos Augusto, Nicolo Barella, Marcus Thuram, Francesco Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny were all on the scoresheet before Udinese added a late consolation in a wild Serie A contest.

The defending champions have won all four league fixtures this season, scoring 13 goals and conceding six. Three of those matches finished with at least three goals, while both teams scored in three.

Inter also performed well in an unfortunate 2:1 defeat at Real Madrid in their opening Champions League fixture earlier this month.

Still, the visitors have struggled to keep clean sheets with only one picked up in seven competitive fixtures since the end of last season..

Head coach Simone Inzaghi has three expected absentees this week. John Stones is expected to miss the trip to Rome after suffering a hamstring injury against Udinese. Hakan Calhanoglu and Djed Spence are also set to miss out.

Lautaro Martinez and Federico Dimarco should return to the first XI after starting Sunday's victory on the bench on Monday.

Marcus Thuram is expected to retain his place after scoring against Udinese.
