Notts County vs Swindon prediction 27.01.2026 | League Two

Last season, Notts County secured a playoff spot but failed to progress, as AFC Wimbledon eliminated them in the Semi-Finals. This season, the Magpies are on the right path to secure another Playoff appearance, but are also in a very good position to avoid Playoffs and secure direct promotion. With back-to-back wins in previous games, they are now only two points away from 3rd place and direct promotion. Since they played one game less than 3rd-placed MK Dons, a win here could move them into the top three, at least for a short time. 

Coach Martin Paterson served his one-game suspension against Crewe and will be back on the bench for the Swindon game. After a 1:0 win over Crewe, the coach commented on the game. He said there are things the team can improve on, especially in taking their chances. However, Paterson was generally satisfied with the performance. 

Swindon have missed the Playoffs in the past three seasons and weren't even close to making it. This season, the Robins did well and spent most of it in the top three. Unfortunately, after back-to-back League Two losses to Bromley and Salford, they dropped to 6th place. However, two losses against those teams and another one in the FA Cup to Salford may have shown their inability to compete with the very best teams in League Two. Now, the match against Notts County is a really good opportunity to change that narrative. 

After a 2:1 loss to Bromley, coach Ian Holloway spoke to the media. He said they were a much better side in the first half and had multiple chances to "end the game". However, he was frustrated with the second half, saying they failed to follow the game plan. The coach added that if they stuck with the game plan, they would have won at least one point.
