Newcastle had three solid seasons in the Premier League behind them, and most experts believed they would continue with good performances. Unfortunately, the popular Magpies had an absolutely terrible start to this season, winning only six points and sitting in 15th place in the Premier League after six rounds. Still, there are some signs of improvement considering they won two out of three games across the competitions, and even that loss wasn't bad considering they lost 2:1 vs Arsenal by conceding a goal in the stoppage time. 

After a 4:0 win over Royale Union SG in the last game, coach Eddie Howe spoke to the media. He said it was a magnificent game from his team, highlighting that they showed they can score. "We maintained control of the game, and it's a big mental boost for us", the coach added.

Last year, Nottingham had a magnificent season, barely missing out on the Champions League. Unfortunately, the disagreements between coach Nuno Espirito Santo and the club resulted in the sacking of the coach and the appointment of coach Ange Postecoglou. The coach who led Tottenham to a Europa League title is the same one who led a disastrous Premier League campaign, with Spurs finishing 17th. Now at Nottingham Forest, Postecoglou's side has endured another dreadful start, sitting 17th with just five points from the first six matches. Besides their atrocious PL start, the Forest were eliminated from the EFL Cup by Swansea and won only one point in the first two EL rounds.

In the previous game vs Midtjylland, central defender Murillo suffered an injury and had to leave the field after 28 minutes. It was an unfortunate moment for the young defender because he had just returned from an injury.
